The Watershed Institute’s work preserving and stewarding our 950-acre reserve has had a positive impact on water quality, access to natural spaces, and the preservation of vital local ecosystems for wildlife. Join us, in person, at The Watershed Center for our last Watershed Wednesday program of 2023. Local researchers at the Wild Bird Research Group will share more information about their study and explore the general ecology and biology of Northern Saw-whet Owls.

The saw-whet owl banding project takes place at The Watershed Reserve every autumn. The Wild Bird Research Group will share findings of their study including GPS radio tracking to see where these NJ owls go. The researchers will also share how tracking owls locally to understand habitat use and regional migration patterns can help inform and empower regional conservation efforts. The study will also be actively running in the background of the presentation and there may be an opportunity to see a live owl banding demonstration during this expanded presentation.

If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to contact Pri Oliveira at poliveira@thewatershed.org
