Understanding the Stormwater Basin Near You
Time: September 21, 6 - 7:15 p.m. EST
Free | Virtual/Zoom
Do you live near a stormwater basin? These systems, which are built to capture stormwater runoff, are found near homes, schools, businesses, and other places across New Jersey. When stormwater basins are neglected, they may cause flooding, degraded water quality, and contribute to water pollution. This free webinar will teach you more about the purpose, management, and functionality of these landscape features. We will also learn what community members can do to bring awareness to stormwater basins that need attention or could be managed for better habitat.
Join experts from The Watershed Institute and Princeton Hydro for this webinar. There are several ways for community members to get involved in addressing these issues in their own backyards. These methods include revitalizing older basins to meet new standards, naturalizing, and advocating at the local level.
During this webinar, you’ll learn:
- What are stormwater basins
- How to identify the basins that need to be retrofitted.
- What are the steps in retrofitting a basin?
- What permits or other approvals do you need?
- Lessons learned from retrofits.
- How to present these solutions to your town and/or community for larger projects and wider benefits.
This event will be 100% virtual and on Zoom. Recordings will be shared with attendees after the event.
