This year, we are launching our Watershed Wednesdays series of webinars on a wide variety of topics. We will explore the environmental laws that arose after the Clean Water Act, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. We will also learn about Urban Farms started in some communities to counteract the dearth of healthy food options available in some cities. Another webinar will delve into composting, soil health, eliminating waste naturally and DIY composters.
2022 Watershed Wednesdays: Stream Bank
Restoration
Date: January 19th, 2022
Time: 6 - 7:15 p.m.
Free event!
Guest speakers:
- Jake Dittes, Water Resource Engineer/Project Manager, Princeton Hydro
- Casey Schrading, Staff Engineer, Princeton Hydro
- Cory Speroff, Landscape Architect, Princeton Hydro
Many of the streams that run through our backyards and parks lack a healthy stream bank. By working to restore stream banks, community members can help to stop erosion, reduce flooding and restore the health and quality of streams. Join us to learn from the experts at Princeton Hydro about what makes a healthy stream bank and how you can help to restore a stream bank near you.
Jake Dittes will give a general overview of streams, how they flow, and the connection between land and water. Casey Schrading will speak about his experiences working on restoration projects and he will give examples of native plants that can work for residents in their own backyards. Finally, Cory Speroff will talk about his experience overseeing the longest stream restoration project in Maryland. Our three guest speakers will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
This event will be 100% virtual and on Zoom. Recordings will be shared with attendees after the event.
