While the rainfall is plentiful now, in several months we’ll be eager for additional water for our vegetable and flower gardens. Capturing and reusing rainwater for your gardens using a rain barrel is an easy way of controlling storm water and helping to reduce local flooding. Pick up your kit and join us for the virtual workshop for all the instructions you need to build, install and maintain a rain barrel.
The workshop requires some light use of tools and will be guided by Watershed staff. You will need the following tools at home to build the barrel: disposable gloves for applying silicone/caulk, and channel locks or a 8- or 10-inch adjustable wrench .
$50 registration fee includes all materials needed for the rain barrel, but you will need to acquire the tools listed above on your own prior to the build. The fee is per barrel, so groups of multiple people can build one barrel for $50.

Pick Up Date and Time Wednesday, May 5th 6:30PM-8PM:
- Purchase your kit and select a 15-minute window pick up time at The Watershed Center: Wednesday, May 5th 6:30PM-8PM
- If you cannot pick up your kit during the window offered above, please contact: egallos@thewatershed.org
Pick Up Instructions:
- Drive to The Watershed Institute located at 31 Titus Mill Road, Pennington, NJ.
- Please arrive during your 15-minute scheduled window.
- Enter the property and turn left into the parking lot. Continue through the parking lot and into the bus parking area next to The Watershed Center.
- Give your name and our staff member will have your kit ready for pick up.
- PLEASE NOTE: The rain barrels are 50 gallons and measure 23" diameter by 37" tall. Please make sure your vehicle is large enough to accommodate the barrel.
Virtual Workshop on Saturday, May 8th 10AM-12PM:
The virtual workshop where you will be guided by Watershed staff to build your rain barrel is Saturday, May 8th 10AM-12PM EST. A zoom link will be provided to participants once they register.
