Spring Phenology: The Emergence of our Plant and Animal Neighbors
A Haiku Celebration with Jeff Hoagland
What was the moment that spring began, for you, this year? Was it the equinox, denoted on your calendar? Or was it the robins feeding out on the lawn, the songs of frogs in the air, or the first wildflowers blooming along your favorite trail?
There is a rhythm or sequencing to nature’s calendar. We call this phenology. Each year certain awakenings and arrivals take place in a typical and familiar sequence though the timing may differ slightly year to year. Climate change has been adjusting this.
Join Watershed Institute Education Director and award-winning haiku poet, Jeff Hoagland for this unique and educational look at the phenology of spring. Through presentation and discussion, Jeff will share his insight, some photos, and lots of fascinating information on the lives of some of our favorite plant and animal neighbors.
Suitable for families of all ages and adults. Free virtual program via Zoom.
