AFTER SCHOOL FALL SEMESTER: FALL COLORS AND EVERGREENS

Come learn alongside your child about the fascinating world of plants! Join us for one class or for the entire series as we discover the nuances, structure and variations in the plant world. We will hike alongside the Stony Brook, explore the plant life in-and-near Wargo Pond, and avail ourselves of the living laboratory of our 950-acre Watershed Reserve in a safe, socially distanced fashion.

Each class will offer hands on activities, such as identifying plants as scientists, dissecting a plant, and building LEGO plants to learn about the various parts. Students will be grouped together by ages 6-9 and ages 10-12 for age appropriate explorations of the material. 

Watershed Educators Samantha Bernstein, Yesenia Feliciano, and Vicky Allen will guide these in-depth investigations. The eight weekly classes will cover plant basics, plant adaptations, aquatic plants, carnivorous plants, trees, flowers, fall coloration, and plant-human interactions.

Families will return home with some activities to extend and reinforce the topics covered in the class. Both children and adults should come prepared to learn, engage, and have fun!

Classes will be held outdoors in a socially distant environment. Masks must be worn at all times. Dress for the weather of the day.

PLEASE NOTE ADULT ATTENDANCE REQUIRED : A parent or legal guardian is required to attend with all children. We require 1 adult to attend with every 3 children. If you plan to bring more than 3 children, another adult must attend.
